Vantillu is a meal-planning service that works entirely inside WhatsApp. It suggests what to cook tonight based on what your household has in the kitchen. This page describes exactly what it stores, why, and how to get rid of it.

What we collect

• Your WhatsApp phone number. It identifies your household and is how we send messages. We receive it from WhatsApp when you message us.
• The content of messages you send us, and the messages we send you. This includes what you type about your kitchen — “add 1kg vankaya” — and which buttons you tap.
• Your household settings: the name you give your kitchen, how many adults and children, vegetarian or not, how much chilli, which regional cooking you lean towards, how long you are willing to cook on a weekday and a weekend, and what time you want the nightly message.
• Your pantry: which ingredients you told us you have, roughly how much, and when something is about to go off.
• Your cooking history: which dishes we suggested, which you chose, which you cooked, and which you skipped.

What we do not collect

• We do not ask for your name, address, email, date of birth or payment details.
• We do not read your other WhatsApp chats. We only receive messages sent to us.
• We do not track you across websites. There is no consumer website to track you on.
• We do not build a profile of you beyond food, cooking, your pantry and your schedule.

Who we share it with, and why

WhatsApp (Meta)

Every message goes through WhatsApp, so Meta processes your phone number and message content in order to deliver them. Meta’s own privacy terms govern that.

Anthropic

We use Claude, made by Anthropic, for two narrow jobs: writing the short one-line reason next to each dish suggestion, and reading an ingredient list out of a cooking video’s description. For the first we send your household settings, the shortlist of dishes our own scoring produced, and a few of your recent messages so the reply matches how you write. For the second we send the video text and the dish name. We do not send your phone number. Anthropic does not train models on this.

YouTube (Google)

When you ask for recipe videos we search the YouTube Data API using the dish name. We send the dish name and nothing about you. We store the video results against the dish, not against your household.

Supabase

Our database is hosted by Supabase in Mumbai, India. Your data stays in India.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Analytics

When you join, we ask you to agree to us using your activity to improve the service. In plain words, that means we look at which suggestions get cooked and which get ignored, so the recommendations get better. We look at this both for your household — so your own suggestions improve — and combined across all households, with identifiers removed, to see whether the product works at all. Combined figures are never small enough to point back at one household; we do not report anything drawn from fewer than twenty.

How long we keep it

• Household settings and pantry: while your household is active.
• Message history: 90 days, then deleted.
• Cooking history: 24 months, because the recommendation model uses roughly two years.
• If you stop using Vantillu, we delete everything after 12 months of no messages from you.

Stopping, and deleting your data

Send STOP at any time and we stop messaging you immediately. That silences the service but keeps your data, so you can start again.

Send DELETE MY DATA and we erase your household, your pantry, your message history and your cooking history within 30 days. This cannot be undone. We keep only a record that a deletion happened, which is what lets us prove we did it.

Children

Vantillu is for adults running a household. We ask how many children live there so portions and spice levels make sense; we do not collect anything else about them and they are not users.

If we change this policy in a way that affects what we collect or who we share it with, we will tell you on WhatsApp before it takes effect.
